Mississippi: Hoax Device Emplaced Near Downtown Renovation Site

On 6 August 2025, the Tupelo Police Bomb Squad responded to investigate a possible improvised explosive device (IED) in Boonville. A construction worker noticed a suspicious device located on an air conditioning unit near a building being renovated. The Tupelo Police Bomb Squad conducted diagnostic procedures on the suspected IED and determined it was a hoax device. The investigation was turned over to local authorities to determine who placed the device and what charges they may face.

New Jersey: Crowd Shoots Fireworks at Police Officers at Street Takeover

On 31 August 2025 at approximately 0231 hours, the Secaucus Police received a report that over 100 vehicles “took over” the intersection of Secaucus Road and County Avenue and were driving recklessly.  Upon the arrival of the Secaucus Police, over 50 people began to surround the officers’ vehicles, while others climbed on top of the marked police units causing damage. People in the crowd then shot fireworks at and under the marked police vehicles.  Officers from several surrounding departments assisted to help disperse th

Kansas: Newton Incident: False Alarm Leads to Discovery of Explosive Device

On 28 August 2025, at approximately 0520 hours, law enforcement officers responded to a "shots fired" call in the 1500 block of North Anderson, Newton, Kansas, but found no evidence. Later that morning, at approximately 1025 hours, a cyclist reported discovering remnants of an explosive device in the same vicinity. Emergency response teams, including the Newton Police, Fire, EMS, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Kansas State Fire Marshall’s Office. ATF took possession of the device for further investigation.

Nebraska: Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and Explosive Device Discovered

On 28 August 2025, at approximately 0830 hours, Lincoln Police officers were checking a field along Oak Creek, in Lincoln, NE for trespassers. During the search a 63-year-old man was found sleeping in a tent with a stolen E-bike. After receiving consent to search the suspect’s backpack, law enforcement discovered methamphetamine, marijuana, and an explosive device.

Oregon: Traffic Stop in Marion County leads to Discovery of Methamphetamine and Homemade Explosive Device

On 27 August 2025 at approximately 0245 hours, a traffic stop was conducted in Marion County, Oregon. During the stop, the Marion County Sheriff discovered a 36-year-old man in possession of approximately 5 grams of methamphetamine and a homemade explosive device. The Salem Police Bomb Squad successfully rendered the explosive device safe. The individual was arrested and now faces multiple charges.

Iowa: Explosive Device Found Near Apartment Complex with Close Proximity to Schools

On 27 August 2025, in Hudson, IA, an explosive device was found at an apartment complex. The location of the explosive device was just south of the Hudson High School and Middle School campus. To ensure safety of the students, the middle and high school either canceled or relocated their extracurricular activities. Waterloo Bomb Squad responded to the incident and rendered the scene safe.

Missouri: Traffic Stop: Uncovered Methamphetamine and Explosive Device

On 25 August 2025 at 1548 hours on Highway 19 and Auchly Road in Mexico, Missouri, a man was pulled over by an officer for erratic driving. During a search of the vehicle, a metal container with methamphetamine was discovered. Additionally, an explosive device was discovered, which court documents described as, "a green, hard plastic, with multi-color tape around it.

Oklahoma: Unpleasant Surprise for Homeowner, Previous Resident Leaves "Pipe Bomb"

On 25 August 2025, a homeowner in Glenpool removed what he believed to be a "pipe bomb" from his home and placed it in his vehicle. He contacted the Glenpool Police Department, which responded promptly and evacuated approximately ten nearby homes. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol's Bomb Disposal Squad arrived at the scene and determined that the "pipe bomb" was inert. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives also responded and will continue the investigation. Efforts were made to contact the home's previous resident.

Vermont: Suspect Link Between Pipe Bomb Found at Colchester Job Site and Pipe Bombs Found at Burlington Apartment

On 24 August 2025, officials in Burlington, VT, responded to reports of a suspicious package at an apartment. Inside the apartment, police found what appeared to be two pipe bombs, along with substances they say may be chemicals that could be used to fashion additional explosive materials.   Individuals in the apartment complex were evacuated until the devices were removed safely from the apartment building.

Michigan: Woman Shot After Attempting to Throw Gasoline Explosive Device

On the morning of 22 August 2025, in Mecosta County, MI, a woman refused to leave private property, prompting the property owner to call the police. Mecosta County deputies responded to the scene and the woman attempted to throw a gasoline explosive device at the officers after allegedly refusing their commands and assaulting them.
