Kentucky: Explosive Device Discovered at Crime Scene: 1 Arrested

On 12 March 2025, at approximately 0720 local time, Louisville Metro Police responded to Winter Spring Ct. for reports of gunshots when they located a victim who had been shot. The victim later died from his injuries.  During a search of the crime scene, an officer discovered an explosive device under the victim’s car. When officers searched the suspect’s vehicle, they found a firearm, handwritten notes, and multiple items consistent with manufacturing explosives.  The victim’s son was arrested in connection with the murder.

Vermont: Pipe Bomb Discovered During Traffic Stop; 1 Arrested

On 17 March 2025, at approximately 2215 local time, Vermont State Troopers discovered a pipe bomb during the arrest of a suspect following a traffic stop in Royalton Vermont. Investigators stated the suspect had warrants out for his arrest. During a search of the car, troopers stated they found a pipe bomb and requested the FBI and bomb squad to assist. No further information on the device is available at this time.

California: Explosive Used to Rob ATM

On 19 March 2025, at approximately 2325 local time, two men allegedly used an explosive device to burglarize an ATM inside a big box store in West Hills. The Los Angeles Police Department claimed the suspects used either a gas or an explosive device to break into the ATM and take an undisclosed amount of money. The bomb squad was requested to conduct a post blast investigation. No arrests have been made.

Maryland: Pipe Bomb Found in Storage Unit; 1 Arrested

On 12 March 2025, at approximately 1735 local time, authorities stated a pipe bomb was found Wednesday evening inside a storage unit in the 4400 block of Suitland Road in Suitland, MD. The device was found while a storage unit was being cleaned out. The bomb squad determined the device was a simple, but real, pipe bomb and was rendered safe by the Prince George's County Fire Department bomb squad at 2130 local time. The device was described by workers as a 12-inch-long steel pipe with a fuse. No further information was available.

Florida: Suspected Explosive Device Brought to Police Department

On 13 March 2025, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad responded to the Gainesville Police Department headquarters after a citizen turned in an explosive device. Officers say a woman found a device at one of her rental properties and brought it to the department. Bomb squad determined it was an inert explosive device. In an abundance of caution, the department HQ was temporarily evacuated while the device was examined. Operations have since resumed. No additional information was provided about the device.

Peru: Explosive Device Functioned Outside Public Ministry Building, 2 Injured

On 20 January 2025, an unidentified suspect posing as a food delivery driver left a bag outside of the Public Ministry of Trujillo building in Trujillo in the Department of La Libertad, before it detonated. Two injuries were reported due to the blast. No further device details have been released. The investigation is ongoing.

Canada: IED Discovered in Stolen Truck, 1 Arrested

On 17 January 2025, Shawnigan Lake Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) responded to a business on Malahat Drive in British Columbia after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle. As responding officers approached, the vehicle fled the scene, prompting a search that involved the assistance of North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP, West Shore RCMP, and the RCMP Police Dog Service. Authorities located the vehicle, which was determined to have been stolen, near the Mill Bay Marina as the 42-year-old male suspect attempted to flee in a different vehicle.

New Hampshire: Possible IID Thrown at Vehicles

On 22 January 2025, at approximately 1950 hours local time, Nashua Police Department officers and Nashua Fire Rescue crews responded to the 60th block of West Hollis Street in Nashua following reports of two passenger cars and a pick-up truck on fire in the area. Crews extinguished the fires, and no injuries were reported. According to police, video camera footage captured an unidentified suspect with a possible improvised incendiary device (IID), described as a Molotov cocktail, before they threw it at a vehicle, prompting a fire, which then spread to at least two other vehicles.

Texas: Pipe Bomb Discovered Near Bridge

On 19 January 2025, at approximately 1400 hours local time, Wichita County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded after a passerby reported seeing a suspicious device on the bank of the Wichita River at the bridge over FM Road 369 in Wichita Falls. Deputies used a UAS to examine the device and called the Fort Sill bomb squad, Wichita West volunteer firefighters, and a Wichita Falls police officer associated with the ATF for assistance. The bomb squad used an X-ray to examine the device and determined that it was a live IED, described as a pipe bomb.

Pennsylvania: IIDs Thrown at Duplex, 1 Arrested

On 17 January 2025, at approximately 0600 hours local time, Pottsville Bureau of Police officers and Pottsville fire crews responded to the 600 block of North 2nd Street in Pottsville following reports of a fire at a residence that spread to another residence on the block. Multiple people were transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.
