Highway 152 West near China Grove. RCSO deputies and Cabarrus County Bomb Squad technicians responded to the scene, where they determined the initial explosion was caused by a pyrotechnic device. A secondary search uncovered a second device, described as a commercial pyrotechnic mortar inside an adjacent mailbox.

On 26 August 2024, at approximately 1900 hours local time, an unspecified IED inside a backpack was thrown at a residence in Santa María Chiconautla in Ecatepec de Morelos. The device functioned, damaging the home and a nearby vehicle. According to media reporting, two individuals may have been injured in the attack. The investigation is ongoing.

On 20 August 2024, at approximately 0719 hours local time, a 43-year-old man exiting his apartment building in the Saint-Jean district of Geneva discovered a garbage bag leaking liquid out onto the steps. The man picked up the bag to dispose of it, which caused an item inside the bag to explode. The victim suffered injuries to his leg and was transported to the hospital. Authorities responded to the scene, including specialists from the Zurich Forensic Institute, to determine the exact cause of the explosion. Authorities suspect the bag contained a small victim-operated IED (VOIED).

On 21 August 2024, a vehicle-borne IED (VBIED)—described as a motorcycle loaded with explosives—was functioned on the Pan-American Highway in Cajibío, in the department of Cauca, during a protest held by indigenous protestors, killing one man and injuring three others, including two police officers. According to authorities, the attack occurred while security forces were attempting to clear the highway and restore order. No further device details were released. The investigation is ongoing.

On 2 September 2024, at approximately 0930 hours local time, Pennsylvania State Police responded to Smith Road in Straban Township after a man was seen exhibiting strange behavior and carrying firearms. When police arrived, the 36-year-old male suspect fled the scene. Police apprehended the suspect and searched a vehicle at the scene, where they discovered a pipe bomb and firearms. A second pipe bomb was found in a backpack near a different vehicle.
