On 7 January 2025, Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies and agents from the FBI’s Houston field office discovered BMM while searching a storage unit on the 11900 block of Walters Road in Houston that was connected to the suspect in the New Orleans vehicle-ramming attack. The BMM, described as “bottles of sulfuric acid,” were reportedly purchased at a nearby hardware store and were discovered inside a cooler within the storage unit.

On 2 January 2025, at approximately 1345 hours local time, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies responded to an apartment building on the 2200 block of Geneva Trail in Lakesite after a man removed a security camera from the porch of an apartment before throwing an IID, described as a Molotov cocktail, at a vehicle outside the apartment. A small fire ignited, which spread to the occupied apartment unit but was extinguished before law enforcement arrived at the scene. A 22-year-old male suspect was identified and located at his own apartment within the same complex.

On 20 December 2024, a 28-year-old male suspect threw an IID, described as a Molotov cocktail, into a car on the 6200 block of Erie Avenue in Canal Fulton, igniting a blaze before fleeing the scene. The Canal Fulton Fire Department, Canal Fulton Police Department, Regional Emergency Dispatch Center, Jackson Township Fire Department, and New Franklin Police Department responded to the scene to assist. According to the Lawrence Township Police Department, a witness assisted in providing a description of the suspect and his vehicle, and police were able to locate and arrest the man.

On 21 December 2024, at approximately 2345 hours local time, the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company responded to an automotive repair shop on the 1800 block of Pulaski Highway in Edgewood after an IID thrown into the shop ignited a blaze. Fire crews extinguished the fire upon arrival. Investigators used a K-9 to confirm that the fire was intentionally set after an IID, described as a Molotov cocktail, was thrown through the shop’s side window. The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident, which caused moderate damage to the business.

On 5 January 2025, at approximately 0230 hours local time, Lake City Police Department (LCPD) officers responded to the 700 block of Northeast Jackson Avenue in Lake City after the LCPD’s gunshot detection system had been triggered. At the scene, officers heard an explosion and observed smoke coming from the yard of a vacant home. In the yard, officers found several melted plastic bottles emanating gray smoke and evacuated a neighboring residence as a precaution while Lake City Fire Department crews were called to deal with potentially hazardous chemicals.
