Kansas: Anti-Personnel Mine Discovered on Abandoned Property

On 6 September 2024, the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit responded to an abandoned property on the 7200 block of Forest Drive in Kansas City after an individual conducting a walkthrough of the property discovered possible ordnance. Bomb technicians inspected the device, described as a possible claymore anti-personnel mine, and were unable to determine if the device was live. Bomb technicians removed the device for further investigation and disposal. ATF and FBI agents assisted with the investigation. No further information has been released.
