Mexico: Explosive Device Functioned in Attack Against Police, 14 Injured

On 23 September 2024, at approximately 0100 hours local time, a commercial explosive device described as being “industrially manufactured” functioned between two public safety vehicles parked on De los Deportes Avenue outside of a concert at a national fair in Zacatecas. Local police and civil protection officers searched under cars in the area and discovered three more explosive devices that had not been functioned. The devices were removed, and the military took possession of them. Fragmentation from the explosion injured 14 people, including 3 state police officers.
