On May 12, 2025, a San Antonio woman was arrested and charged with Aiding in the Commission of Terrorism after her son was allegedly found to have been plotting an attack against a local middle school. The woman was taken into custody for buying ammunition and “aiding in terrorism” after her son allegedly showed up at Jeremiah Rhodes Middle School on May 12th, wearing a mask, camouflage jacket, and tactical pants. He has since been charged with terrorism.

On May 11, 2025, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a breaking and entering incident at a residence in Morganton, North Carolina. Florida: Florida Man with Cardboard License Plate Arrested for Possession of IEDs

On May 6, 2025, a DeFuniak Springs man was arrested after Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) deputies found two pipe bombs and drugs in his vehicle after pulling him over for having a cardboard license plate reading “Private.” Deputies discovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and two cylinder-shaped objects, which the man admitted contained gunpowder. According to WCSO, one device was constructed of PVC pipe with caps on each end. The other device was a cylinder object heavily wrapped with electrical tape.

On May 1, 2025, an explosion was heard in Yates County, and a man faced charges stemming from the incident on Friday. Penn Yan police said people heard the loud explosion on Thursday at 8:20 p.m. on East Elm Street. Neighbors reported that debris hit their houses. Officers responded and found pieces of what appeared to be a detonated homemade explosive device. The suspect was found with two 12-gauge shotgun shells.

On May 1, 2025, a homemade bomb exploded in Redwood Valley, starting a small fire and leading to the arrest of an Ukiah man accused of setting the device and possessing other devices. Investigators said the device had a fuse and was wrapped in packing tape. Small fragments were recovered at the scene, and officials noted it resembled another bomb found intact a day earlier in a roadside ditch off Highway 222. The suspect was pulled over and arrested on suspicion of possessing and igniting an explosive device and arson causing damage to land.

On April 30, 2025, in Provo, Utah, police arrested a 28-year-old suspect after two suspected pipe bombs were discovered in his apartment. The suspect’s mother contacted the police after she found what appeared to be pipe bombs, materials used to make them, and a container marked gunpowder, at the suspect’s residence. The bomb squad responded to dispose of the two devices and confirmed the pipes contained an explosive powder. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of two counts of second-degree felony recklessness involving an incendiary device.

During the foot pursuit, authorities discovered a possible improvised explosive device (IED) with a tripwire on a path through the wooded area. Bomb squads from multiple agencies responded and rendered the device safe. The device was then sent to a crime lab for analysis. The suspect fled on foot and remains at large.
