On 5 April 2023, at approximately 0400 hours local time, police responded to Zenonos Street in Limassol’s Agia Triada area after an IED, emplaced in a building lobby, functioned causing damage to the building and to two cars nearby. No further device details have been released and no injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation.

Mississippi: Military Ordnance Discovered on Beach

On 3 April 2023, Long Beach City Police Department officers and Biloxi Bomb Squad technicians responded after a Long Beach resident picking up trash on the beach found a military ordnance, described as a marine signal flare containing red phosphorus. Bomb squad technicians used sand and water to stabilize the ordnance before removing it from the beach for offsite disposal.

Netherlands: Explosive Device Functioned Inside Vehicle

On 4 April 2023, at approximately 0200 hours local time, local police responded after an explosive device functioned inside a vehicle in Vlaardingen, destroying the vehicle and damaging the windows of a nearby house and other vehicles in the area. No further device details have been released, and no injuries were reported. Surveillance camera footage showed a suspect smashing the vehicle’s window, throwing the explosive device inside it, and running away from the area. The investigation is ongoing.

South Africa: Explosives Used in ATM Attacks

On 31 March 2023, at approximately 0130 hours local time, local police responded after unidentified suspects used explosives to attack an ATM inside a gas station building in Makgofe and two other ATMs outside the building. The suspects fled the scene with an unknown amount of money. No further details about the explosives have been released. The explosion destroyed the three ATMs and caused significant damage to the store and a vehicle parked near the ATMs, but no injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation.

California: Pipe Bomb Discovered by Diver

No further device details have been released. The Monterey County Sheriff's Office Bomb Unit responded to assist and rendered the device safe via controlled detonation. China: Driver Detonates Explosives After Driving into Pedestrians

On 31 March 2023, a suspect detonated explosives outside a hotel in Handan city, Hebei Province, after driving his car at high speed through Zhonghua North Street, hitting at least a dozen pedestrians. According to media reporting, a local traffic police officer confronted the driver who got out of his car and detonated the explosives, before walking into a hotel on Lianfang East Road where he was arrested. No further details about the explosives or the number of pedestrians injured have been released. The incident remains under investigation.
