On 15 January 2023, militants emplaced an IED inside a church in Kasindi, which was functioned as churchgoers were praying, killing at least 17 and injuring approximately 50 others. No further device details have been released. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack.

On 15 January 2023, at approximately 0700 hours local time, the Montreal police (SPVM) arson squad responded to 12th Avenue in the Lachine borough after an unknown suspect threw an improvised incendiary device (IID), described as a Molotov cocktail, at a moving vehicle, causing it to catch fire. No further device details have been released. The vehicle sustained extensive damage, but no injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
